Trustee

Amy Broomhall

Having called Cheltenham home for over 10 years, I’m proud to support the Lido as a trustee, helping to keep it such a special and welcoming place at the heart of the local community. Alongside this, I work as a Regional People Partner at Boots.

As a member of a Cheltenham Triathlon Club I am fortunate enough to enjoy regular training sessions at the Lido. While it’s also somewhere I head to practice swimming lengths; take on and support the fantastic events; and even brave the legendary Christmas Day dip. I love being part of everything that makes this Cheltenham treasure so special.

Trustee

Ian Miller

Having been a regular Lido user and long term season ticket holder I feel honoured to be a Trustee at the Lido, as full time wheelchair user and Chartered Surveyor I hope to bring my experience to improving access for all.

I am hopeful that my experience and skills will benefit this fantastic facility in both the short and long term opening up the benefits of outdoor swimming to a wider section of the community.

Chair

Richard Jones

I feel very lucky to be a Trustee at the Lido. Every time I visit I’m struck by the wonderful atmosphere, it always feels like a sanctuary to me to be protected for the future. I hope my wide range of financial and practical skills help that to happen.

Vice Chair

Jerry Angrave

Having lived in Cheltenham pretty much all my life, I’ve been going to the Lido as far back as I can remember. As a competitive swimmer in my teens and then as a long-distance open water swimmer later in life, the Lido has always been both a warm, welcoming space and community. The Lido is something very special with so many positive physical and wellbeing aspects. To be a Trustee and play a small role in its future is a huge privilege.

Trustee

Natasha Stonebridge

The Lido plays an enormous role in maintaining my own health and wellbeing, I wanted the opportunity to use my skills as a communicator and psychological sciences researcher to give back and help grow the Lido and make it even more accessible and enjoyed by the community it serves.

Trustee

Liz Chadwick

I am a local resident and season ticket holder who is passionate about the continued success of the lido and I want to work with the other Trustees and amazing lido team to help achieve that.

Trustee

Carole Billington-Wood

I am passionate about the Lido and maintaining our facility now and for future generations. My main role on the Board focuses on safeguarding the wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers. I bring experience from my professional background as an NSPCC Senior Consultant in the Child Protection and Safeguarding in Sport Unit. Prior to this my role for 10 years was Director of Development at British Triathlon during a time of massive growth in participation. I was part of a team which successfully lobbied for inclusion of Triathlon in the Olympics. Competing as an Elite Triathlete at World and European Championships prior to working in Triathlon combined my background of youth swimming and cross country running. I LOVE swimming at the Lido, and enjoy applying my skills and knowledge to this privileged role.

Trustee

Joe Plews

The Lido is such a special place in Cheltenham, the environment it provides for health and wellbeing is completely unique, offering an instant escape to paradise!

As a recreational outdoor swimmer throughout the summer months I use the Lido almost daily. I love how authentic and honest the Lido remains to the original build concept which is truly a masterpiece of 1930’s design.

As Trustee, I hope to further support the fantastic team in place with my 20+ years experience in public and private sector property surveying and asset management.

Trustee

Duncan Rolley

As a former international swimmer who used the Lido in my formative club swimmer days at Gloucester City SC it has a VERY special place in my heart. Its vital contribution to the health and wellbeing of the residents of Cheltenham, the surrounding areas and further afield should never be underestimated. I now work in elite sport with a focus on facility provision and partnerships so the opportunity to work alongside like minded passionate trustees was something I relished and hopefully my experiences and passion add something to the Trustee group.

Trustee

Tim Coolican

I feel very fortunate to be a Trustee at the Lido. I am a huge lover of lidos – there’s something unique about the combination of outdoor swimming, heritage and community they offer. As a keen triathlete, being in and around water has always been a big part of my life.

I am a Partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors, where I specialise in regulatory and health and safety work, supporting organisations through investigations, inquests and public inquiries. I am particularly interested in work with a strong social purpose, and as a Trustee I hope to bring my experience to help support the Lido’s long-term future.

Trustee

Andy Holding

I have enjoyed being a lido season ticket holder for many years and also a user of several other indoor and outdoor swimming venues in and around Cheltenham.

I became a trustee several years ago and joined the team to help with the Lido’s continued development. One of my main motivators as a trustee is to explore various ways of sustainably extending the lido’s availability, usage and enjoyment within and also beyond the traditional core summer season.

Trustee

Lindsey Ingle

I feel privileged to be a Lido Finance Trustee, including supporting its long-term sustainability. I work locally as the Finance Director at the University of Gloucestershire and live in Cheltenham with my young family. We have been Lido season ticket holders for the last few years (although I’ve not attempted the cold water swimming yet!).

Trustee

Iain Dobie

I am the Cheltenham Borough Council representative on the Board.
I bought my first Lido season ticket in 1968 and have had many more since then. I still enjoy this “jewel in Cheltenham’s crown” twice a week – nowadays not as a swimmer but as (often) the only male in Toni’s wonderful Aqua class.
I am the local Councillor (Borough and County) for this part of Cheltenham and aim to “oil the hinge” between local authorities and the Lido. I also chair the Gloucestershire Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee and have a particular interest in the role played by the Lido in the health and wellbeing of Cheltenham’s residents.

Cold water curious? Or always fancied giving wild swimming a go? 👀❄️

Perhaps you’ve watched our winter swimmers from the sidelines, heard about the benefits or simply wondered what all the fuss is about…

Well, this could be your sign to give it a go!

As we prepare for another cold water season at Cheltenham Lido, we’re delighted to be offering Cold Water Swimming Inductions with @glowswimcoach , designed to help you take those first steps with confidence.

And there’s no better time to start! As we switch off the heating, our pool temperature will gradually decrease alongside the autumn weather, offering a great opportunity to begin acclimatising as the season progresses.

💙 What can you expect?

Led by Laura, a Lido regular, qualified Open Water Coach and experienced cold water swimmer, these sessions will introduce you to safe cold water swimming, including what to expect, how to enter the water gradually and how to approach your winter swims safely and confidently.

🌊 Interested in wild swimming too?

These inductions are also a great starting point for anyone curious about wild or open-water swimming. Understanding how your body responds to colder water, learning safe entry techniques and building confidence are valuable foundations for future outdoor swimming adventures.

Whether you’re completely new, interested in exploring the benefits or simply want to learn more before taking the plunge, Laura will be there to guide and support you.

📅 Upcoming induction dates:

❄️ 25 October
❄️ 1 November
❄️ 7 November
❄️ 22 November
❄️ 13 December
❄️ 9 January

⏰ All sessions: 9:30–11:00am
🎟️ £20 per person
📍 Cheltenham Lido

Cold water swimming isn’t about how long you can stay in or how cold you can go. It’s about understanding your body, respecting the water and enjoying the experience safely.

🐾 Coming to Dog Swim this weekend? Here’s what you need to know!

A few important reminders before you and your pup arrive:

🐶 Harnesses are strongly advised - particularly if you’re not entering the water, so you can safely help your dog out of the pool and reduce the risk of claw injuries.

🦮 Dogs must be kept on leads when walking around site and when not entering the water.

🚿 Please shower your dog after their swim due to the chlorine products used in the pool. Showers are available, but dogs are not permitted inside the indoor changing rooms.

💩 Bring poo bags and please use the correct general waste bins - not recycling.

🎟️ TICKET UPDATE: All morning sessions are now SOLD OUT, with very limited afternoon availability across the weekend.

⚠️ This is a PRE-BOOKED EVENT ONLY - there will be no walk-ins on the day.

See you this weekend! 🐾💦
