We are committed to playing our part in the global priority of reducing emissions and waste and safeguarding water whilst maintaining everything we love about our Lido – its historic nature, its character and the enjoyment and wellbeing it brings to its users.
Our strategy is therefore to prioritise and pursue energy efficiency and sustainability measures that make economic sense and ensure a long and sustainable future for Cheltenham Lido and its community.
We have exciting plans but we will continue to listen, to learn and to welcome challenges from our stakeholders so that we develop in the best way possible but all the time reducing our environmental impact.

Power Generated
29,004 kWh in May (≈ 936 kWh/day)
31,328 kWh in June (≈ 1,044 kWh/day)
Enough to cover all of the Lido’s daytime electricity needs
Financial Value
Worth £6,712 in May
Worth £7,204 in June
CO₂ Savings
4.35 tonnes CO₂e avoided in May = the same as taking 18 petrol cars off the road
Even higher in June, almost 19 cars off the road
Then vs. Now
In 1935, when the Lido first opened, coal-powered electricity would have created around 45 tonnes of CO₂ every month — today we’re avoiding almost all of it with solar.
Bring your reusable mug or bottle (reduce waste)
Walk, cycle, or car-share (lower carbon)
Shower before swimming & wear a swim cap (save water & chemicals)
Apply suncream at least 30 minutes before pool entry (help water quality)
And just like that…we’re BACK 💦
With @cheltenhamsilverband playing and a stunning performance from @openwatersynchro it’s more than an opening…it’s a celebration!
Come and join us for just 2P, open until 6pm 🌤️
