Moran's Junior Aquathlon & Triathlon 2027

The Moran’s Junior Aquathlon & Triathlon in association with Pied Piper, is a fun sporting challenge which raises funds for two charities and is designed for children aged 8 to 16. The aquathlon comprises a swim in the heated main pool of the lido followed by a run around Sandford Park, whilst the Triathlon includes a cycle in the park in-between the swim and run.

This event starts at 7.30am with the youngest wave going first.  Other start times are provisional, subject to numbers entered but all being well, the last wave should go of no later than 9.30am

T-shirt deadline: 6th April 2027. Entries after this date will receive a discounted ticket as no T-shirt will be included.

The event is managed in partnership with Cheltenham Lido Ltd (Registered charity #1052203) and Pied Piper Appeal (Registered charity #1011611).

Age categories:

TriStar Start (age 8) – born 2019

TriStar 1 (age 9-10) – born 2017 to 2018

TriStar 2 (age 11-12) – born 2015 to 2016

TriStar 3 (age 13-14) – born 2013 to 2014

Youth (age 15-16) – born 2011 to 2012

Age category shall be determined by age at 31 December in the year of competition in line with British Triathlon rules. Examples of age category:

a) A child who is currently 7 but turns 8 between the event and December is able to compete in Tristar Start group.

b) A child who is 10 but turns 11 between the event and December would compete in Tristar 2 group.

 Distances:

TriStar Start – Swim 54m, 1km Cycle & Run 500m (Start 7.30am)

TriStar 1 – Swim 100m, 1.5km Cycle & Run 1km (Start 7.50am)

TriStar 2 – Swim 200m, 3km Cycle & Run 1.5km (Start 8.15am)

TriStar 3 – Swim 300m, 4.5km Cycle & Run 2.5km (Start 8.45am)

Youth – Swim 400m, 6km Cycle & Run 3km (Start 9.15am)

500m Laps (Cycle & Run)

(excluding cycle for Aquathlon)

To participate in this event, you are required to become a member of British Triathlon and hold a race licence. You must either become a Core or Ultimate annual member here (www.britishtriathlon.org/join) or purchase a single use Race Pass for your race

Perhaps you’ve watched our winter swimmers from the sidelines, heard about the benefits or simply wondered what all the fuss is about…

Well, this could be your sign to give it a go!

As we prepare for another cold water season at Cheltenham Lido, we’re delighted to be offering Cold Water Swimming Inductions with @glowswimcoach , designed to help you take those first steps with confidence.

And there’s no better time to start! As we switch off the heating, our pool temperature will gradually decrease alongside the autumn weather, offering a great opportunity to begin acclimatising as the season progresses.

💙 What can you expect?

Led by Laura, a Lido regular, qualified Open Water Coach and experienced cold water swimmer, these sessions will introduce you to safe cold water swimming, including what to expect, how to enter the water gradually and how to approach your winter swims safely and confidently.

🌊 Interested in wild swimming too?

These inductions are also a great starting point for anyone curious about wild or open-water swimming. Understanding how your body responds to colder water, learning safe entry techniques and building confidence are valuable foundations for future outdoor swimming adventures.

Whether you’re completely new, interested in exploring the benefits or simply want to learn more before taking the plunge, Laura will be there to guide and support you.

🐾 Coming to Dog Swim this weekend? Here’s what you need to know!

A few important reminders before you and your pup arrive:

🐶 Harnesses are strongly advised - particularly if you’re not entering the water, so you can safely help your dog out of the pool and reduce the risk of claw injuries.

🦮 Dogs must be kept on leads when walking around site and when not entering the water.

🚿 Please shower your dog after their swim due to the chlorine products used in the pool. Showers are available, but dogs are not permitted inside the indoor changing rooms.

💩 Bring poo bags and please use the correct general waste bins - not recycling.

🎟️ TICKET UPDATE: All morning sessions are now SOLD OUT, with very limited afternoon availability across the weekend.

⚠️ This is a PRE-BOOKED EVENT ONLY - there will be no walk-ins on the day.
