THE BIG CHILL 25

25 Hour Team Relay

The Big Chill 25 is a unique 25-hour team swimming challenge, running from midday on Saturday 24 October to midday on Sunday 25 October. As the clocks go back overnight, this event becomes a true 25-hour endurance experience.

Delivered in collaboration with the NHS, this event brings together teamwork, resilience, and cold-water swimming for a memorable challenge.

Time: Midday to Midday (25 hours)
Age: 18+ only

Teams & Entry

• Teams of 4-8 swimmers

• Smaller teams may be considered in special circumstances

• Registration fee: £36 per participant

• Fundraising pledge: £200 per participant

Each participant will receive an exclusive Big Chill 25 bobble hat to help keep warm throughout the event.

How It Works

• One swimmer from each team swims every hour, on the hour

• The relay runs continuously from midday to midday

• Swimmers rotate hourly unless unable to complete their slot due to fatigue or injury

• All swimmers should be ready 10 minutes before their allocated time

• Each team must appoint a team manager to coordinate transitions

• A relay band (baton) must be passed between swimmers and remain in the pool at all times

Conditions

• Pool temperature: 12-15°C

• Please ensure you are familiar with our Cold Water Swimming Terms & Conditions before taking part

Safety & Kit Guidance

• Brightly coloured swim hats are mandatory

• Wetsuits are strongly advised

• Wetsuit gloves and booties are recommended

• Warm clothing (including bobble hats) is encouraged for between swims

Facilities & Camping

• Camping available in a designated area for teams

• Camper vans permitted in the main car park (£30 fee)

• Full Lido facilities will remain open throughout the event

• The café will act as a designated warm space for participants
